Save Clerkenwell Green from sale and development by Islington Council:
Clerkenwell Green has been public open space for use for relaxation, events and assembly with free right of access and now Islington want to sell off the central part of this historic village green now in the heart of London. As a meeting place for liberals and radicals it was an important place where the right to assembly and free speech continues to this day.
The Group believes the campaign and the considerable opposition to the Council's sell off plans has now persuaded the Council not to sell off the heart of this historic Green but that a proper strategy for its preservation and enhancement is still required.
The Clerkenwell Green Preservation Group will have a web site shortly in the meanwhile please contact Ann Pembroke, Chair of the Group to give your support and assistance on 0207-490-2000.
